Four Valentine’s Day Moods, Inspired by Emily in Paris
Officially, Valentine’s Day has never made it into Emily in Paris — and c’est dommage.
It would have been fascinating to see how the extra-cheesy, over-the-top American Valentine’s traditions would collide with Paris, a city that prides itself on romance but quietly despises clichés — and doesn’t really celebrate the holiday. So I decided to imagine it instead — how the main characters would approach Valentine’s date night, and, more importantly, how they would dress for it.
So, which Valentine’s mood fits you best: Sylvie’s power move, Emily’s heart parade, Camille’s romantic edge, or Mindy’s bold drama?
When Valentine’s Day Turns Into a Heart Parade
Emily takes every American tradition very seriously. So when Valentine’s Day rolls around, hearts, bows, and exaggerated touches — she would happily drown in them all, probably even showing up in a heart-covered dress reminiscent of that gigantic bowl-dress she once wore for a birthday.
For her, the holiday is a full-on performance: more is more, and clichés are a love language. Well, she’s a girl who avoids decisions and long-term planning in her love life — so why not go all-in for Valentine’s, no matter who she’s “dating,” especially if the whole thing isn’t even real and is just another excuse for a brand campaign?

When Valentine’s Day Is Just Another Power Move
I can easily imagine that if the series had featured Valentine’s Day, Sylvie would have met Emily’s enthusiasm for the holiday with her signature eye-roll — and then secretly flown to Rome for a date night with her Italian fling. In Rome — unlike Paris — Valentine’s Day isn’t taboo, and people actually celebrate it. But of course, it’s hard to picture Sylvie carrying a heart-shaped bag; even red, a color she loves, would feel too cliché for her. Instead, she’d probably opt for subtle symbols: perhaps Schiaparelli keyhole details or trading her usual aggressive, sharp ear cuff for a Cartier Love piece.

Romance, Without the Noise
Camille is another French girl who would most likely skip Valentine’s Day dinners in crowded Parisian restaurants. My take? She’d escape to the countryside — a small hotel, or simply her family château. Camille gravitates toward chic, romantic blouses, so a ruffled one paired with a checked jacket, denim shorts, and rain boots feels very on brand. To give the countryside look a festive twist, she’d probably finish it with a statement sequined bag.

All Eyes on Me
While Emily is always trying a little too hard to match the ambiance, Mindy fully embraces her sexy, bold, and unapologetic style — one she has no intention of trading, not even for the approval of her boyfriend’s heiress family. Following the latest storyline, where Mindy is proposed to, her Valentine’s look would lean into a love-coded mood, but still sexy and dramatic — perfetcly reflecting a hot side situationship story, so a white dress is clearly not on the agenda yet.
